About Us

Located on the shores of Bde Maka Ska (formerly Lake Calhoun) in Minneapolis, Willow Midwives Clinic and Birth Center seeks to provide individualized care for wellness across the lifespan, including annual wellness exams, contraception, pre-conception, prenatal care and birth, breastfeeding, and all that lies between. Our small group of Certified Nurse Midwives and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners are proud to provide empowering, well rounded care that combines your wisdom of self with our clinical expertise.

We welcome people of all backgrounds, gender identities and family structures, and seek to be a place of comfort and familiarity. We recognize that your history, values and safety are important factors in choosing where you birth, and we offer a variety of options for a variety of people. Our freestanding birth center is a safe and intimate home-like facility for low-risk, low-intervention birth. We also care for people choosing to birth at the hospital when desired or medically indicated (Abbott MotherBaby Center). Our midwives will provide you with up-to-date information to help you make an informed decision for your birth location.

We are an independent, locally-owned, midwife-owned and operated accredited birth center, and are in-network with most insurance companies for your clinic visits and birth costs. We recognize that often it does ‘take a village’, and are well connected with complementary therapists, medical specialists and community resources in the Twin Cities area when a referral is needed.

We are so glad you found your way to us, and look forward to getting to know you.

About Birth Centers

“Birth center” means a facility licensed for the primary purpose of performing low-risk deliveries that is not a hospital or licensed as part of a hospital and where births are planned to occur away from the mother’s usual residence following a low-risk pregnancy.

We seek to partner with our clients through every step of their unique journey. We seek to provide our clients with the tools, information and resources that will empower and enable a safe and gentle experience throughout preconception, pregnancy, birth and beyond.

In most cases, our care is provided at at our clinic and birth center, but our midwives maintain hospital privileges and are able to continue as primary providers in the hospital as needed.
