Ashley was born and raised in New Jersey and recently moved to Minnesota. She was called to nursing at a young age when she saw the strength and love of life in her cousin Jack, who had a rare disease. During her labor and delivery rotation in her undergraduate studies, Ashley realized that the women she was working with weren’t given choices or any education during labor. Realizing that changes needed to be made, the dream of becoming a midwife was born. Before returning to graduate school Ashley worked as a pediatric rehabilitation nurse which helped cultivate her love of incorporating the entire family into each plan of care. Working as a pediatric home care nurse and a birth assistant prior to obtaining her masters of nursing further grew a love of working with women and children.
Ashley attended the University of Pennsylvania where she earned a dual degree in Nurse-Midwifery and Women’s Health. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from William Paterson University in New Jersey. An active participant in her nursing community, she has served as Past-President and Delegate of her undergraduate Alma mater’s chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing.
With a passion for education, Ashley believes that each woman deserves to know exactly how her body works. Providing individualized, safe, and evidence based care is always a goal. In her role as nurse-midwife, she approaches each woman’s care as a special and unique experience. While building a strong partnership, she encourages women to be active participants in their own care. Ashley sees the space around each laboring woman as a sacred place that she is honored to be invited into. Continually amazed at the strength and beauty possessed during labor, she hopes to support women in any way they choose to experience birth. Special interests include contraceptive counseling, working with teens, and providing labor support.
Ashley lives with her husband, Brandon, and their Wheaten Terrier, Finnegan. Reading, baking, good food, and getting out on the boat as much as possible are some of Ashley’s favorite things to do.
